i was reading some fag's blog and he posted a link for the video of her new song so i clicked on it to see how nauseous it would make me,
and i actually liked the song, so i've DLed it and looked at a few of her older videos but i'm not into anything else she's done,
that whole SNL fiasco from a few years ago always had me thinking she's just a packaged/processed bubblegum popstar, not to mention the nosejob which is about the most insecure thing a person could ever do,
but this song is so catchy, has a good beat, uses some good synths,
and then i see it's co-written by timbaland,
now, there's no denying that in the past few years this guy has been behind some really infectious and great pop songs, but i don't really think he's ever written any original music before,
i've come to the conclusion that all of his songs implement or are constructed of songs from the 80s...not the beats really, but the melodies and/or synth rhythm parts,
everyone knows he was accused of ripping off some swedish midi musician and flippantly brushing it off as if everyone uses everyone else's stuff,
so it's not like this is some shocking news,
but i wanted to write a blog about it, well, i was actually just writing this about the ashlee simpson song but then i ran off into this timbaland crap that's been agitating me for awhile,
i read a little about nelly furtado's last album, "loose," and she has stated that her inspiration was 80s music like the eurythmics, and that nelly furtado album and plethora of hit singles is what really blasted timbaland into the stratosphere,
so i really kind of believe that he,
and whoever he's collaborating with at the moment, just listen to 80s songs and pick parts they like,
then tweak them enough that they're not completely recognizable, slap some minimal beats under the various parts and basically have a song,
and/or he takes an instantly recognizable synth riff like salt n peppa's "push it" and slips it under the main music so you don't really know it's there until someone points it out like in "the way i are,"
anyway,
it pisses me off
